Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting Guess who's back.

It's confusing, because you are no longer sure if he's the one who changed to become one of a character you detest or yourself having a change of judgement & perspective.

And I'm back. Like finally.

A short 3D2N outfield at the lovable Lamsan(near Choa Chu Kang). Lamsan is amazing because the mosquito population confirm mostly Buddhist one. I didn't have a single mosquito bite even when I forgot to put on my insect repellant! Only a few religious radicals attacked my friend la but on the whole the mosquitoes there are generally pretty tame.

Oh and I saw fireflies too! Amazing sight to behold. Would have went up to take a closer look but I wasn't interesting in getting myself in mud.

I can't really say the entire Exercise is xiong because I only had to dig one shell-scrape(for those who don't know, it's just big holes for u to hide inside) and I didn't had any appointments to tend to.

The amount of time I had to space out was amazing; the army's all about waiting ma, so I just sit/prone/squat there for thunder flash or blanks to be fired. In the end I didn't fire one single round nor was one single round fired near me.

Boring I know but a different aspect, which made this outfield interesting, for me was the urban operations, which is about fighting in an area with buildings(think Iraq). We kenna deployed to the urban area and after waiting for 3 hours on a tonner(waiting AGAIN), we reach the place at around 10. The place is an abandoned army camp with low buildings around and every part of it was screaming eerie.

I got off the tonner and being garang, I chiong first one to the back of the building to secure it. I found a spot, was about to squat down but turned around instead when I heard something behind.

Through the window, I saw 2 black figures standing against a wall and they looked exactly the same. Because there was absolutely no one around, naturally I got scared the soul+balls+shit-which-I'm-tahaning-for-one-day out of me. The fright took the exact same time to disperse as my mouth took to finish saying this following sentence:

Kanninabu eh pua chee bye chua tio lim peh la cao chee bye hong gan.
Censored because it's the strongest arsenal you can find in a Hokkien speaking man.

In the end the 2 black figures turned out to be fellow NSmen securing the rooms. Na bei. After that I wasn't able to sleep well cuz at 1AM kenna re-deployed again to a shed where I was treated to an orchestra of snoring.

Right now I'm pretty shagged but can't sleep because the odour from the pack of dirty clothes 'refreshed' me while taking them out for wash.

Essentially, pretty alright experience, loads of stuff that wasn't done in BMT was done. It could've been better if I had volunteered for appointments. Will do that next time.

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting Update

Me: Gawd this place smells like shit!

Friend: It's the toilet after all...

The week's been pretty decent except yesterday where I still had to go back to camp.

Think I've made quite a name for myself among the NSmen at ICT. Also, had a short chat with one of my bunkmates who's an engineer and he's told me to stay away from engineering! Good thing he said that. But he's given me some very tempting stories of people earning peanuts in the finance sector.

Hmmm.

Anyway, should be MIA for most of the next week because I'll be going outfield. Route march tomorrow but I think it should be ez to handle.

The tough part is trying to not crap outfield.

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting Youth Olympics

In contradiction to the other ex-JJCians who actually went down for the dance for S'pore Youth Olympics bid, I was slacking away and only realise we got the bid just now. Surprise surprise.

You can't blame me for being so detached. If I had joined OGLs back then-all thanks to the great Mr Sia, who hates the guts of OGLs, I didn't join-I would have gone down as well.

Speaking of which, back then I didn't try for OGLs because I thought spending 2 years in a class where the mentor actually hates you would be rather devastating. Fantastic choice and I never regretted it because he already hates my guts for constantly contributing to the Fs and the Os on the class's grade. Had I had been an OGL I would have been treated to constant sarcasm during his lectures.

Why I am saying this I also don't know. Very singlish sentence. Back to the topic, I don't really care if S'pore gets the bid or not. I'm like, Youth Olympics nia, why make such a big fuss? Very typical S'porean who's extremely capable at pouring cold water I know.

But honestly, no one here knows me as someone who pours hot water instead.

Unless it's a very hateful person.

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting 沈殿霞

I don't follow her news very well, but there are 2 things about Lydia Sum, 沈殿霞, that surprised me and I probably won't forget.

One is how her daughter, 郑欣宜, transformed from a SBS bus into a sleek Volkswagen beetle; I can only imagine how much effort and willpower it took.

Second is how every time she was reported for being rushed to the hospital, she manages to stand up and continue to enjoy herself mere weeks after that. The optimism and strength she displays is beyond me and perhaps, many others.

Yet another valuable gem in the HK showbiz lost. I can only hope for the usually-critical HK media to go soft on her daughter now that she can no longer be there to support her daughter.

Life is indeed, very balanced.

I think the Edison thing is getting on everyone's nerves, or rather, on those who read the tabloids regularly(like my dad).

Edison's a fucking coward, and I mean it quite literally, so we should just leave him alone to cower and rot in the States instead of giving him so much exposure and even try to help him win sympathy by saying he's committed suicide. Please lah, try something less obvious can?

IRONY. I'm asking for less talk on him and I'm talking 'bout him ahahahhaaz.

And I honestly think Gillian brought it upon herself because she actually dared to say that she was being too naive on her press conference while looking quite noncahlant.

Call me unsympathetic, but if you ask me, my definition of naivety doesn't really include spreading your legs for the camera.

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting Very incoherent/nonsensical post

The question of why am I still not sleeping is kinda divine.

It's almost blasphemous to go to sleep now after being up for so long; in fact, downright sacrilegious that I'm not playing mahjong while staying up now.

NEED mahjong. They should just invent one-man mahjong.

Now, what's the point in inventing mahjong to play alone you may ask. Of course there isn't a point: you wouldn't be inventing that if you aren't bored, so if you invented it when you're bored, chances are there's no point in the invention since bored people don't do un-pointless stuff.

One million dollars to those who understood this. Two million to those who can rephrase this whole post. Thirty million to myself if I can actually pay those who understood and rephrased this post.

Inner voice of reason: "Spending Valentine's with other guys? Very gay losers."

Real me: SHADDUP. All of you.

I know I'm slow but River Valley High is shifting to Jurong West. Not that it's affecting me in any way, it's just a reminder of how schools nowadays are located in places that have absolutely no relation whatsoever.

"迟来的雨季, 恰似我迟钝的领悟;
赫然发现, 当初心中持续了许久的雨季,
原来下的太浪费, 只显得自己狼狈。"

I sometimes surprise myself with inspirations for quotes.

It's one those moments when you look up to the sky like a poet who writes poets for the love of it, sigh like a poet who writes poets for the love of it, then ask yourself why are you doing all these like a poet who isn't doing poems for the love of it like he should be.

This is what army does to you. It teaches you what an organisation shouldn't be like. It teaches what a superior shouldn't behave like.

It teaches you how different 'studying past schooling hours' and 'working past work hours' are; you do the former unwillingly but still have to because your future hangs in the balance and you need to do it to keep it balanced, you do the latter unwillingly but still have to because your future got hung and is off-balance because of it and you need to do it to bring it back.

I am honestly questioning an eight-to-five job prospect for me: a freedom-loving Sagittarian whose heart can never lie in one place long enough.

But then again, I question the reality of not having an eight-to-five job and still getting the freedom I love so without sacrificing the ones who depend on me.

Money-making limits you. Not making money limits you further. Conclusion will always be, the lesser of 2 evils hur.

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting MDIS(Mahjong Deficient Inchoate Syndrome)

is a not-yet-fully-developed condition when you didn't play enough mahjong.

Played overnight mahjong on Friday but I was only active one after a few hours so I didn't feel satisfied.

I realise Blackjack isn't fun because the money comes*bishhhh* and go far too fast; although in my case the money is coming*bishhhh* instead of going. And it's weird when I won too much of my friend's money, because I am, after all, a 过来人.

Back to reality tomorrow. I hate the fact that we need to go through mundane life in order to taste the true joys of festive occasions. Why can't we just have days of mahjong all the way?

I hope B19 has mahjong when I go down there ahahahaz.

Anyone care to join me there?

PS: Inchoate may be used wrongly; because I just wanted the letter I to be present to make MDIS.

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting Movie review

The four of us, with average height of at least 170cm(yes I'm the only male; yes they are giants and no, they are still pretty lady-like despite the height), made our way down to Jurong Point to catch Jay Chou's Kungfu Dunk.
Photobucket
The other tall freak is holding the camera.

Honestly speaking, I held little expectations for the movie because of the director being notorious for low-grade comedies, Jay because I'm sick of him acting cool and photos such as this:

Photobucket
A-neh ma eh sai?!(Translation: Liddat oso can?!)

But like how 不能说的秘密 shocked me, Kungfu Dunk didn't turn out to be shitty like Kungfu Dung and I am slightly ashamed to admit that I was thoroughly entertained.

Jay plays an orphan abandoned beside a basketball court when he was still a baby and was later found and left at a martial arts school. Even at this point, the beginning of the movie, my laughter was already echoing throughout the theatre because of Jacky Wu's cameo and the 干申大那多(you need to watch it to understand this).

Here's the part that proved my first assumption wrong; Jay didn't act cool, he later grew up to be a competitive but slightly dumb guy with a crush on Lily, played by Charlene Choi(OMG so cute).

That quirky bucket-style hairdo, small eyes and his signature clapping, he was almost as cute as Charlene(omg so cute).
Photobucket
Jay and Charlene(omg so cute).

(Just for the record, I'm saying he's cute purely from a neutral and straight perspective.)

He was later kicked out of the school after bashing up a insane amount of guys and stirring the wrath of a powerful man, and the basketball-ing begins.

A good enough movie for those expecting crap because of the laughs the show provided although the plot has enough loopholes for me to blindly throw a ball at it and still get the ball through(this was how 8 Days very aptly described it).

Not recommended for Jay Chou-haters because you will be pissed off by Jay's pulling off yet another successful movie role to garner even more screaming female fans.

Recommended for Charlene-lovers(OMG so cute) because she is so damn cute.

Recommended for female 花痴s because the other 2 supporting actors damn yandao(although you might have some problems telling them apart).

Recommended for those about to watch Ah Long Pte Ltd because I honestly believe you should choose the lesser of two evils.

PS: Still, Kungfu Dunk kanna owned as you can see from the ticket sales.

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting 拜年

Went 拜年-ing for CNY at my grandma's house as part of the yearly-routine.
Photobucket

The difference this year is that I'm quite sure every single one in the family tree(the living ones la, now not 7th month) turned up so the house was pretty packed and 热闹.

The implications of this sudden high turnout means that there were a lot of unfamiliar faces and I had to avoid contact with them so I don't have to greet them. There even came to a point when a girl stepped in to the house and I was like, "OMFG SHE IS DAMN CHIO LAH".

Then it got a little embarrassing(I was the only one feeling that lah) when I realise that the chio bu is actually my cousin whom I remembered only as a small, noisy little girl the last time I saw her. The quantum leap in chio-ness is so amazing I tell you.

Btw how come I didn't get a quantum leap in yandao-ness ar?

Besides that, everything else is pretty much the same;

the steamboat which I hardly ate,
Photobucket

the mahjong which I dare not play($5 for four-of-a-kind tiles),
Photobucket

and the inordinate stoning with my cousins(the only ones I really do know).

We got so bored that my cousins took my phone with Hebe's picture in it and showed it to my aunt and grandma, saying that is my shio ber(girlfriend). Things got pretty hilarious when my grandma starting commenting on how pretty she is.

Of course, I didn't go around doing that since I wouldn't want my relatives to question my sanity after last year's questioning of my sexuality(they thought I was gay).

Later on we went to catch a movie to escape the drudgeries of staying in that house. Speaking of which, moi rare movie review will be tomorrow because this blogpost is kinda long and I've got nothing to do tomorrow.

And I'm tired. Ciao~

守岁. Traditionally, staying up past midnight of the first CNY is known as 守岁; it is believed that the later you stay awake the older your parents' will live until. This is something I do every year as a habit.

In fact, this is something I can do everyday. If this 守岁 thingy is an everyday thing then my parents would probably be witnessing the invention of light sabers, holographic phone calls and the birth of their great-great-great grandchildren.

The moral of the story is: don't go to bed with good-looking people. You might just get carried away and do ultra-stupid-dumbf*ck stuff like letting him get a close-up of your, erm, assets, with his camera.

Honestly. Gillian is dumb shit beyond words. I kinda gave up on her and decided Charlene was cuter and pure-er after Gillian kenna the changing room hidden camera thing because the entire thing felt like a publicity stunt after realising no incriminating photos were actually taken of her(honestly, if there's a hidden camera shooting her changing surely you wouldn't have just taken the shots of her still wearing clothes right?).

So now the real deal's out. She even made sure everyone sees every single, er, detail. And to think before that I thought she could be smarter than Tammy was. Tsk tsk tsk.

Probably smitten by Edison's good looks. Not that it's impossible for that to happen though.

Just returned from fetching Lee Kok Mun from the airport. Apparently my last post, an attempt to dope him into thinking we're more interested in mahjong than him, didn't really work. But he should be touched.

4 girls and 2 guys went to fetch a 2.30AM FLIGHT LEH. Even if it was Hebe coming at that ungodly hour I wouldn't have gone lah; not to mention that I was running a temperature in the morning.

New revelation was Wei Liang getting a PSP as a present from his girlfriend; plus seeing(or rather, hearing) Kok Mun getting his own nifty gadgets also makes me feel a little jealous. After all, my financial status doesn't allow me to indulge in any of these material comforts and that materialistic(inborne Sagittarian trait) door in me was simply being pounded on.

Good thing there's reality to stop the pounding. Then again it might be a 3-minute's heat(because of the chinese saying, or idiom or something) because the PS2 that was loaned to me by Kok Mun isn't getting played much.

Went home by sharing cab and I got off at Boon Lay instead of home cuz I missed the dao hwa from the Boon Lay market. Simple pleasures, and I don't have to spend hundreds on it.

Btw I watched the Jay Chou World tour where he sang the newer songs.

Watching him sing and re-enact the fantastic piano battle from Secret makes me feel like changing sex to love him.

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting Cubes

Pre-ICT training finally came to an end. I attended it with a pretty positive attitude, like how someone who used to be important used to always remind me of the usefulness of a positive attitude, and to my surprise things turned out damn well.

Everyone else was garang so we did everything with a lot of laughter and even managed to earn ourselves a ticket to go home instead of sleeping outfield!

But the upcoming real ICT will be really tiring and testing our willpower. And there's the multiple troubles cropping up back at my depot to handle.

On a sidenote, I was on the bus back from camp when this little ACS boy, around Sec 1, board the bus. He had in his hands, 1 completed and 1 undone Rubik's Cube. Upon sitting down, he immediately, to my utter horror, started to twirl the Rubik's Cube in his hands like those kind of pro who look like they're blindly turning the damned thing.

I could see the colours gradually converging and within a minute, he was done with it.

I couldn't even care that I was on a public bus and was staring at the boy like Michael Jackson. What in the world is happening to our children? What happened to the good old days where children playing mindless games like hopscotch or rubber bands? Or at least play some sports and run like normal kids does?

NO! That bespectacled kid looked like he's never been under the sun even if his life depended on it; I could swear he's the type who reads the Money section of the Straits' Times lah.

I'm not being sour grapes here hor.

I'm just wondering why a young kid like him isn't living properly*shakes head*.

To make things worse, he proceeded to take out a 3rd Cube to solve.

I almost, soo very close, was going to swallow my helmet whole in shame.
