Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting A little optimism works.

The Happy Hour fits well; in fact, perfectly, into the category of FAILED.

Of course, not my fault lah, I am but a little private. I could've laughed at the organiser's failure of getting people to actually come, but the organiser is MY warrant officer who took beer and food for me when I can't, hence I can't laugh.

Food was catered for about a hundred people, but I estimate about only 40 came. As a result, the event was pretty much cut short and all I did was drink, eat, say a few words, then eat somemore.

Basically did sai kang before the event started, but somehow, because I told myself this is a breath of fresh air from what I've been doing, even the sai kang didn't feel shitty. I met a few very nice female officers, and while at the event, learned how to handle situations whereby I don't know the person but needed to at least, appear un-freaked-out by the number of bars(or the crab) on his shoulder. Amazing how a little optimism can change perspectives eh.

And I think I really am not cut out for hosting(yes, even saying that few words amounts to 'hosting', because I got a feel of how it MAY be like). I spoke into the mike for the first time and almost screamed; I can't hear my own voice properly and god-knows-why, I was unsettled by that. Lost whatever poise(no slouching) I should've maintained, lost whatever smile I ought to have and most importantly, lost my articulation(I fumbled over the word 'associations' ; thou shall recite the word 27,000 times per day now damnit).

I wished I could say that is the last time I'm doing anything remotely related to hosting(meaning no public speaking), but in the army, tradition decrees that once you volunteer for something once, it doesn't stay at once. Plus I can't possibly avoid public speaking unless I don't want a job in the future.

Oh well. At least I didn't crap in my pants.

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting Dilemma

I feel like stabbing myself over the mass-comm./business choice thing.

And I feel like stabbing myself more for offering to be the emcee for tomorrow's Happy Hour at Ayer Rajah Camp. I don't think it's exactly a big event; but I sure hope that the booze over there can help alleviate any possible 冷场s.

*fingers crossed*

=============================================

Malaysians whom I don't know added me on friendster. My charm only works across the straits eh HAHAZ.

Anyway, the 9PM channel 8 show is so ridiculous that it's downright hilarious. Noisy, but at least I'm having some laughs.

I think Joanne Peh*gives dreamy look* acts well; she's so natural in throwing the box of rice and scolding '妈的' lah. Convincing enough to create that crack in my perfect image of her sia.

And I'm laughing at the Ah Lian for having that rubber face. She makes all the unnecessary facial expressions.

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting A little bit of optimism.

Along the course of my life I meet different people from different backgrounds and I see how different they react to certain things than I do.

Like a friend from a rich background, when talking about the topic of going overseas since he's been to quite a few countries already and going Japan next, when I told him I sold my bike just to raise some money for my HK trip, they ask me why would that little money help at all?

Or someone whose the youngest child of the family, he says how he love kids because they are so cute and would want one, he gives me a blank look when I ask him how about the times when the baby wakes you up in the middle of the night crying for milk. Or the times when the child is lagging in his work; or the times when the teen is on the crossroads of good and evil.

These reactions come because they've seen one side of life. Most of the time, the nice side.

But I guess everyone of us are guilty of this, because we complain all the time when the fact is we can be satisfied with what we have.

I'm letting a bit of optimism shine through my realistic way of evaluating my own life by looking at the positive side of whatever I'm going through, even if it's the army. I guess this is something like looking for the cleanest-looking item in a rubbish dump.

And I think I might just be succeeding in doing that because right now, I honestly don't think my life sucks even though I'm in army.

I think I'm feeling like this because certain things like relationships are currently the last thing on my mind, which used to be my no. 1 depressant. But I'm still fretting over whether to try to go over to NBS though.

FINALLY finished doing up my WRETCH album(link is at the sidebar) and went for a short run after a week's hiatus. I could swear my lungs were failing me.

My gastric problem is more or less permanent, which basically means that I have to live with another ailment. I told my friend that besides my kidneys, every other internal organ of mine are either failing or failed.

My lungs are like shit considering the lousy timing of my 2.4KM run; my liver obviously is a goner with all that insomnia; my heart ain't that good cuz it's black; my brain, well, let's just say that National Service is euphemism for Brain Damage.

Long week ahead!

Soon, it will be Sasuke vs Itachi and Jiraiya vs Pain.

I can't wait to see it.

Yesterday night was 1AMB's Heroes' Gathering at Roland's Restaurant in celebration of 1AMB's winning of Best Combat Service Support Unit. I was a bit surprised by the standard of the restaurant because I never expect the army would spend big money on celebrations such as this.

Even the entry ticket was kinda cool.

and with friends around, how can there not be some drinking?

Can you differentiate between the beer & chinese tea?

The emcee of the night was Aileen Wee whom I thought did ok since emcees are all meant to be warming up the atmosphere and most of the time getting high by themselves.

There's the usual prize presentations,

and this rather unusual performer who did voice imitations(and wasn't bad at it too).

At my table there was only five of us turret guys who happen to be at the same unit, and since each table is meant to serve ten people, we had an abundance of food; meaning we couldn't finish the food.

The event ended at around ten and I rushed off to watch The Bourne Ultimatum.

DAMN good i tell you. The show is so much better than all other action movies because we don't have the leading character fighting someone holding a solid metal staff with a book and then, a towel against a knife in the other shows.

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting Lalala

For a moment I lost myself. TOTALLY. Thanks to Wei Liang(surprisingly) who gave me a simple reminder that brought reality back to my mind:

I am a full-time NSF. Time is not on my side; time never was and never is on anyone's side anyway. The best I can give is my heart, but I know full well that is hardly enough.

Rush Hour 3 was bad. I only found the credits funny; everything else was was at best, slightly amusing.

That aside, I'm happily being tortured by my stomach while being placed under the killing feeling of anticipation as I await the announcement of my new unit. The feeling was killing because I feared going back to 12FMD, and above all, being placed to a unit where a certain smelly/unlovable/loserish fellow technician is.

Let me illustrate why I feel that way about this guy. Firstly, when he heard that he was going to be in a stay-in unit, he did something all irritating people do: pester the superiors. When that failed, he turned to the Medical Officer: he tried to down pes.

When that failed and I thought he can finally be a man and face up to reality, he did something all losers might do in a similar situation: in order to stay out, when he found out that by taking external courses he can have an excuse to stay-out, he did exactly that. Also, he purposely went for physio, saying that he cared nothing about the physio itself, but wanted the off.

I don't understand his determination in trying to stay-out.

Does he reeeally need the daily porn?

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting What's up, doc?

"又有谁,从来没站在某一个人心中的门外,怎样走,也无法走进去。。。"
An except of a quote which I like from a secondary school friend's blog.

Kinda like one of those quotes that hit right on the spot.

$46 DOLLARS FOR ONE CONSULTATION! Doctors are all damn freaking rip-offs aren't they? But since the medicine is working I shan't complain about that doctor.

That reminds me, I remember when I was young I had a dream. And that dream was to have the newest Power Ranger Zords. Now now now, before you start thinking what in the world does it have to do with doctors, let me finish first.

All my youthful dreams never included my future occupation! Which is quite an anomaly because usually, young kids would have the dream of becoming either a policeman(silly silly silly), a fireman(the Civil Defence? Don't make me laugh), a doctor or whatever the kid's father is doing.

And I think this made me lose out a lot. Because all i wanted were toys, I never studied hard enough; I just did well enough to earn the toys. I either spent my spare time playing, fighting, or trying to hide the fact that I've played or fought from parents.

Which explains why I'm here today, nowhere good enough to be amongst the elite or dumb enough to guiltlessly live off others.

Here's what I'm thinking; I'm thinking if from young, my mom had told me about how being a doctor I can rip people's pockets and buy countless toys, I would've been much more hardworking! Of course there's the thing about lack of talent, but I'm quite sure with my greedy nature, that motivation would be more than enough to make up for the lack of talent.

Also, if I could have a good friend who somehow died from an incurable disease, I would definitely be motivated to want to be a doctor to cure diseases. But as far as reality is concerned, the only motivation I really have now is promoting drink-dont-drive and I would also rather not have motivation of that type.

*sigh* Gotta face it, I can't be a doctor. Or maybe I can be a lawyer! I think I got talent leh.

Oh wait. Vulgarities and suaning don't count. I guess I only fit in well with Taiwanese politicians.

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting Why am I happy

It's no wonder Sugarettes got in; since they're air stewardesses, all they need is to get their pilot friend to announce,

"Dear passengers, call 1900 XXX XXXX ten times or I'll one, turn off the engine; two, open the door; or three, leak the fuel tank. Btw, there's only one parachute and I'm wearing it."

I'm happy because after two weeks of burnt weekends and overflowing workload, I finally get to enjoy my off after a mild scare that my superior doesn't want me to go. He wasn't as evil as I thought he'll be.

Somehow, thinking of the mundane things like heading to Boon Lay market for a nice breakfast and swimming in good'old JE Sports Complex is enough to generate that smile on my face(i was practically a zombie the whole of yesterday when I thought I can't take my off).

Of course, knowing full well how lucky I already am, compared to other people in vocations that burn your weekend and laugh at you instead of giving you your deserved off, just makes that smile wider.

OJE ends officially next Tuesday(goodbye busy-like-hell 12FMD) and there's a turret get-together BBQ on Monday!

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting Random

The SAF is made up of two main groups of people: the ones who give work, and the ones who receive it. Being an organized organisation, the work is always neatly distributed down the hierarchy. Oh sorry, I mean, the work is always neatly distributed down TO the lowest of the hierarchy.

I love watching 小猪 and 小鬼 host a show because of how unpredictably funny they are. This is a perfect example of a tongue slip causing the joke to get carried too far. Hilarious nonetheless.

This is one of those impromptu antics that was so funny that you can even hear the crew laughing in the background; one of those classics that I remembered even till now. It's a live show even! Start watching from 00.38.

This is not a nice song(only the part where Hebe sings 听妈妈的话 is nice), but the MTV is entertaining. Laughed the hardest at the part when they did the prawn thing. Something of an inside joke that only S.H.E fans would know.

=============================================

OMG Keely's '平常心' struck a chord and totally hypnotized me! Hadn't got a performance from anyone that had that effect since Project Superstar 2.

Didn't watch the others so I don't really know if the overall standard improved like Keely did. I think channel 5's Live the Dream would be better.

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting Live Firing.

Why does people think Lin Chiling is hot?

She just looks plain weird in the Osim advertisement lah.

JUST CAME BACK FROM LIVE FIRING. And yes, it IS 3.00A.M.

The main reason for being so late is none other than inefficient leadership and excessively long briefings. I mean, so many warrant officers around and only 3 are allowed to clear tanks? They pay them high pay and they can't trust the officers to do a simple check? Goodness!

Only the SAF is capable of a thing like this.

That's about 22 hours spent in camp; a hard deal for a day off. Morning was madness when they started firing, practically every tank had the same problem, and worst of all, I was helpless. I couldn't and don't know how to do the faults. Except for a selected few which doesn't involve live rounds.

But it's not all that jia lat, my virgin ride on a Bronco(an army personnel carrier which looks like the miniature version of a train), first time seeing the 40AGL, 50MG, GPMG and co-axial fire off and best of all, watching Star Wars re-enactment when the tanks fire off in the dark with the reddish bullets swishing off.

And I could swear the mosquitoes there are Special Ops; so many bites on me and I hadn't even seen one in action!

PS: I read the first sentence and laughed so hard: "why does people...".
Look what the SAF does to your grammar eh.

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting I am so full of xuete.

I think what NDP lacks is showing the true potentials of the different aspects of our army. Having them marching and have a few nicely painted tanks does NOT show the real side of the army. Here's what I'll propose:

First, we show them how fit the Army men are by having one entire bunch of them sprinting across the parade ground in record time. Amidst the sprint, one of them suddenly falls to the ground, apparently spraining his ankle! With that, our medics immediately rush out to help the fallen man and ta-daa, he is up and running in a few minutes' time!

Secondly, during the Armoured vehicles display, we'll have a few tanks stall halfway. When the audience begin to whisper and talk of how inefficient the Army is, the Technicians will come out with the Commandos bringing spare parts dropping from the sky in parachutes. The tanks are repaired in no time and the people will instead, marvel at how proficient the Army is.

Thirdly, during the few minutes when the fireworks are on and everyone are wow-ing and woah-ing at the fireworks, the Army's mysterious Special Operations Forces go to work and the audience will turn their attention back to the stage where all the performers lie dead!

Lastly, as the Grand Finale, the entire stage will suddenly sink and the Navy divers emerge instead; they have been holding their breath AND the stage all along! They are the reason why the platform is floating up all throughout the performance!

Surely everyone would be impressed. I am such a genius.

Gedong is really damn dusty lah.

Everyday when I return home I have to bath as if I hadn't done so for 3 days. I could swear I see yellowish-looking water running off when I bath.

Going by this observation, I think it is mathematically and logically appropriate to make the statement that, "Working one day in Gedong is akin to working 3 days in a normal camp."

And going by this statement, I can conclude that I'm not serving 2-years National Service, I am in fact, serving 6 years of NS!

And going by what I see today: a trainee from SISPEC training to be an armoured specialist has his entire back coated with yellowish dust to the extent that I can't see his uniform beneath. It looked as if he hadn't bathed for 7 days.

In other words, the poor chap is in fact, serving 13 years of NS(given he does good enough for IPPT).

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting Lifeless

Absolutely drained of energy.

Caught "不能说的秘密" with the Rubbish people; and it was surprisingly good for the simple reason of me having such low expectations for the show in the first place. It didn't turn out to be like those very emo and bland Korean movies, the twist in the plot made it rather watchable.

Jay was just being himself(I think) so it wasn't as hilarious as the "满城尽带黄金甲". I think the female lead is purrfect for the role, but I've taken a personal liking to 晴依(shall find out who she is after I get my nap). Plus there's the added factor of quite a lot of piano playing which I personally like a lot.

But I don't think it's a show that's worth spending the money to watch in a cinema; unless of course, you're female or gay who loves Jay when he acts cute.

After the movie went to stay over at Kok Mun's house, and we played a very complicated game called Munchkins! We gave up when the rules of the game overwhelmed us. I was the last man standing and played enough Naruto 2 to be rather pro at it.

After which, I dragged my lifeless body to Sungei Gedong camp to do OT lifelessly.
