Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting A lot

"I always believe in the link between 2 opposites.
You can't be rich unless someone else is poor.
You can't be happy unless you experience sadness.
You can't feel blessed unless you have been through suffering.
Life is beautiful because life is cruel.
Life is beautiful because life is short.
Life is beautiful because life is hard.
Nothing is perfect because perfect is nothing.
Because of the imperfections of this world, life is the best gift on Earth."

I had the goosebumps after reading it. This is something which I always wanted to say but never knew exactly how to pen it down.

Funny man always posts such powerful stuff on his blog that I wonder if I ever knew him at all.

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting Home.

Thinking back, I suddenly realise that ever since the beginning, since young, I've always been very much a selfish person. From young, I always like to keep things to myself; material stuff mostly, I do share my toys and sorts but always reluctant and sulking. After I grow up, I realise that selfishness is detrimental to the image of myself to my friends, so when I do share stuff, I'll do it with a smile and as if I am generous.

Hypocritical perhaps, but I am sure I am not the only one who does this. Selfish people are seen as selfish because they do not conceal their emotions. From another perspective, these selfish people are pretty true to themselves aren't they?

Because of selfishness, I always wanted my family to be the perfect one, and because I wanted it to be perfect, I hated it for not being it.

I am so terribly wrong. Because I failed to see my parents as mortals; they too have their wants and needs, and in most cases, it is always their marriage and all its commitments(which really is just the children) that comes in their way.

Their quarrels make me lose faith in the notion of marriage(which I have come to realise as being a very very naive one), makes me wonder why can't they just give way to each other and live in harmony.

But I miss the fact that they've been giving way to us, the children, for such a long time, sacrificing themselves for so many times that they too, will grow tired.

Harmony is expensive, costing the dreams of two adults. And I, as the child, had kept asking for more, demanding more, while myself hardly contributing. I am not asking for too much for harmony, but I am asking for too much for only the two of them to do it.

The status quo is really the perfect situation already. The family hasn't fall apart; every member has, in some ways, their own freedom to fufill their needs. The quarrels are gone(isn't that what i wish for?), what's left is the silence, but even in this silence there's that tinge of warmth left behind. I am sorry that my sister needs to go through this, to be alone by herself most of the time, but I am sure she too, can tide through this and feel that faint warmth.

We may not be close enough to cushion each other when anyone of us falls, but at least we know that a hand will be there to help each other up when we do.

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting Scorpion Syndrome

Sia lah. I also kenna the Scorpion Syndrome le.

Scorpion Syndrome, characterised by sore throat, coughs, resulting in recruits flocking to the Holy MO and getting Attend B. Occasionally, lucky bastards get fever and gets Attend C. Cause of SS is still unknown.

I think I can easily backtrack whatever I do and find out what caused my SS.

Suspected cause 1: I am timer, so use throat often, no surprise it decided to demand for better treatment.

Suspected cause 2: I screamed when I missed the ball when playing ping pong. KNS.

Suspected cause 3: Ate too much titbits that my bunkmates brought, heaty stuff plus hot weather=sore throat!

Suspected cause 4: Took my time to sing while walking back to bunk when orders were to fall in in 5 minutes time; strained my throat too much.

Suspected cause 5: Sang the book-out-song too loudly during book-out, strained my throat.

Suspcted cause 6: Opened mouth too big when taking multiple afternoon naps, dust go in throat, then infection.

NS is so tiring.

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting Lala.

It is with repeated discussions with my fellow NS friends in different companies did I realise how different my company is.

Let me illustrate this with an example.

During my live firing test at the range, the 'N'inja Company was also at the range with us. Due to that day being the Total Defence Day, we are supposed to listen to some minister's letter, hence both mine and 'N'inja company were brought together to listen to the speech.

Some big-shot Commander: Good morning recruits!
'N' Company: GOOD MORNING SIR!
'S' Company: good morning sir.

Talk about losing face. I'm sure my sergeant was entertaining murderous thoughts already.

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting Beat of Asia, BoA

She is one of the most successful female singer in Japan, and she isn't even a Japanese. She's been in the business since 2000, with most of her albums selling past a million copies, and she is only 20 years old(supposed to be 21 this year but her b'day somewhen in Nov only).

20 freaking years old. Though I admit that I like her primarily because she chio, I don't think her continuing success is just based on looks only. Afterall, not everyone is as superficial as I am.

Anyways, here's 2 of her new songs which I like.

Nothing much about the MV, the song is nice.

Damn cute. I think its a happy song cuz she's like smiling all the way. I smiling all the way also. Muahahaz.

And since I'm on the topic of Japanese singers, here's another singer I like, Mika Nakashima. Unlike other singers like Ayumi, she doesn't sing with a nasal voice(which can be rather painful to the ear sometimes) like how Chen Wei Lian used to sing.

The first ever song I heard from her, even before I heard it on Gundam Seed. Boring MV, just listen la.

Her more recent one, nice song also. Boring MV again.

DAMN PISSED OFF CAN.

Went to watch Epic Movie with my cousins. Rare occasion leh, one year only meet up twice or less.

In the end, the movie sucked so bad that I'm dry now.

At least the Scary Movie series are lame-funny. Epic Movie is like lame-lame. I think in chinese this can be called 恶心当有趣.

Xuete.

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting Bang bang boom boom.

HAPPY CNY~ Yahoo. Another incentive of being enlisted early is I get extra holiday due to CNY. Booking in only on Wed, so shiok.

Anyway, the past week had been pretty eventful, both events have somewhat similar sounds to that for CNY: I had my live firing with the rifle and live grenade throw. On top of that, I lost my 11B(the other name for NS men identity card; don't ask me why its called 11B) which I only managed to retrieved on the book out day(lucky lucky~). Live firing is nothing much, except that it showed how, erm... unwise, the SAF can be sometimes.

Basically, the live firing test is divided into the Day and Night shooting. What we did was to wake up freaking early(like 4 plus?) to do the day test, and then, wait till night. 7 hours of waiting without doing anything! I have this slight inclination to want to be really direct and point out the truth of the IQ levels of those high-ranking people but I am an NS man who wishes to book out weekly, so I shall cease to further comment.

The live grenade throw is much more interesting. Firstly, there is no such thing as day and night throw(er, duh?) so no waiting; secondly, there isn't a lot of people throwing in my company so again, there isn't much waiting time in between. Initially, I thought the grenade would be like the one in Counterstrike which has fancy fireworks and just go boom.

But I am wrong.

I quickly learn that Counterstrike is really just a game; if I stood as close to the grenade in real life as in the game, I'll probably end up looking even more fancier than Gollum.

Another trivial for you guys, whenever a blind(u don't see it blow up, hence blind, ahaha...) is thrown, standard protocol is that we wait for 30 minutes before detonating the blind, by what method I don't really know, but its definitely not by throwing another one. In my case, our company had two idiots throwing blinds. Bloody hell, that's one hour of waiting time lehz. KNS. Stupid people, waste my time only.

Btw, the grenade I threw damn idiotic also. I had to wait half an hour before it blew up.

Stupid grenade.

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting Horrifically mortified.

Shall talk about the mundane stuff tml. This one more interesting so blog first.

I am thoroughly stunned by the chain of horrific events I saw upon leaving Tekong.

Firstly, I switched on the TV to see ELVIN NG act as the male lead on the 9PM show! WTF. Somehow, Elvin Ng becomes uglier and uglier for every show he acts in and the only thing that doesn't change is that his acting suck like starfish. Going by acting, I think Elvin Ng is really just a less-ugly version of Henry Thia.

Secondly, my beloved 白微秀 acts along him as female lead! WTF. Get Patricia Mok better la, at acting level of acting skills more similar then Elvin Ng not so sia suay ma.

Thirdly, my mum said, "Aiyo, kiss again ar." when Elvingbastard Ng and 白微秀 kissed. KNNBCCB. KISS AGAIN? MEANS KISS MORE THAN ONCE? THE BASTARD DIRECTOR WANTS ELVIN NG TO KNOCK HER TEETH OUT WITH HIS PROTRUDING ONES IS IT? 9 PM show leh, a lot of children watching la, put so many kissing scenes later they really go around kissing people when their necklaces get tied up ar. Must have positive influences ma*shakes head*.

Fourth, and the final one:

CAN YOU TELL ME WHY IS GUO MEI MEI SINGING CNY SONGS? CAN TELL ME WHY OR NOT? WHYYYYYYY?!

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting WARNING: BORING POST

大海俘虏了鱼, 却从没问过鱼是否会哭泣。
若鱼没有眼泪, 为何我看见的都是蓝的忧郁的海水。

Damn its good to sleep at the normal sleeping hours(normal as in, my normal hours, you abnormal hours). NS is, well, I must admit, pretty eventless for the simple fact that I'm PES C and in 'S'corpion Company.

For those who do not really understand what's going on, I do not have to do IPPT, which is the gay version of the NATPHA(i forgot the abbreviation, but u get my point right?); I do not have to do SOC, the Standard Obstacle Course which is the gay version of... er... dunno, just very gay la; I don't even have to do Route March, where the PES A & B people march 24KM, carrying a very heavy helmet, rifle, backpack, and a very heavy vest.

In other words, I go in NS to jia liao bee(waste rice).

=============================================

Anyways, it isn't exactly boring since I have pretty ok bunkmates.

The first week was hellish because of the ungodly sleeping hours: 10.30PM to 5.30AM(who in the world sleeps at 10.30?! Goodness.). Plus my knack for lying in bed for hours before I fall asleep, I hardly get 3 hours of sleep each day. But because I am pro, I got used to it by the 2nd week.

The 2nd reason for the hellish week was due to my inability to connect to my bunkmates. Here's why:
  1. Of the 12 people in the bunk, 11 are English-speaking. No prizes for guessing who's the oddspecial one.
  2. Of the 12 people in the bunk, 10 live at the far right side of the MRT map.
  3. While the other 11 people listen to ang-moh songs and talk about Nat King Cole and Frank Sinatra, only one joker(but still, special) listens to Chinese bubblegum pop.
  4. They talk intellectual stuff. I could hardly cut into their conversations; its like having 11 Kok Muns around me la. Then again, its better than having 11 Wei Liangs around.

Thankfully, because of my pro-ness, I adapted to that as well and can cut into conversations where they are talking cock. When I was unable to cut in, I sang to myself.(that sounds weird, but i really just sang la)

Of course, like in most situations where you meet new people, there's usually the undesirable ones. Like one guy whom I believe to have either played too much computer games or studied too much; whenever he cut in to a conversation, he kills it. Plus, he loves to come up to you and try and talk intellectual stuff and tries to start a debate with you or something like that.

But, that guy shouldn't be much of a problem once I get to the live firing range next week.

This is a pretty long entry isn't it? Well, you don't have to finish it at once. May I suggest that you stop here and continue next week so that you have something to read next week?

Enough of the negative aspects, to make this a grade 'A' essay, thou shall evaluate the positive aspects.

The interesting part about being in the platoon is that people are really friendly to each other in there; there was once when this big-sized guy with tattoos came to me and I thought he was going to strangle me or something, he ended up asking me how the hell do I shout so loud(because i am the timer for the platoon) and yet, don't lose my voice.

Another good thing is that I feel pure in there. The amount of vulgarities used in there is even more than the number of blackheads on my face and when people start talking about bukkake and MILF, I couldn't really understand until someone explained that it has something to do with women. Plus, the way I hear some people talk about girls are really really crude, so crude that I cringe to the extent that I shrinked by one size.

Not to mention my English stayed at the original standard(i expected it to be plummeting) all thanks to my bunkmates.

Oh, and one more thing, my bunk's got this fantastic view of the sea, and it faces the West! Meaning, every evening, I am treated to a beautiful view of the sunset*dreamy look*

Ok, that's about it, and I think you've died or stopped reading already. Forgive me la, I rarely do such boring posts one de lehz.

OH! 1 more thing. There's this entire bunk in my platoon where the people are really weird. Someone in my bunk saw 3 guys walk into 2 cubicles when bathing. OMFG.

I came down from the ferry and drank the seawater, kissed the floor, licked the pillar and hugged a Bangla to make sure that I really am back in S'pore.

As for you, who continues to maintain my blog readership at a none-zero level, thank you~ *muacks*

BTW. Who the hell said that I'm from 'S' Company(Scorpion) which is a welfare company that doesn't punish recruits, give recruits a humungous amount of time to sleep and have slack training? I AM FROM 'N'(Ninja) COMPANY ONE LAR I TELL YOU. LIM PEH SOC 3 MINUTES FINISH LE, CHIN UP DO 100 NO PROBLEM, STANDING BROAD JUMP CAN JUMP TO S'PORE ONE LA.

KNS.

Kinda tired. Rest for the night then talk about the experiences. Ciao~
