S is for Sparta.
Go, tell the Spartans, stranger passing by,
That here, obedient to their laws, we lie.
Short week at Tekong but enjoyable nevertheless.
Firstly, there was CO Parade on Thursday morning. Weirdly, I enjoyed it despite my aching left ankle cuz it brought back nice memories of the NPCC days. Another thing that was more interesting to see was to see people fake fainting. Lol.
And then there was Games Day in the afternoon. Electrifying was the word I would use to describe it. I expected Scorpion to live up to its reputation of Slack-iest company and get last place or something. But alas, we managed to clinch a fifth place out of the eleven companies. Games Day may not be an accurate indication of strengths or abilities but overcoming the normal beliefs even some of us had: that Pes C people all cannot-make-it, made the triumph sweet.
By nightfall the Recruit's Evening was held at the parade square. Basically, this is the time when no sergeants scold at you for jumping around and no officers to stop you shouting crazily. Mostly everyone were in civilian clothes and enjoying the performances by our own recruits and the SAF's MDC(Music & Drama something-i forgot).
The performance showed one thing: there are too many guitar players out there already. There was at least 4 performances on the guitar la. According to my speculation, most of them probably learnt it cuz it was an easy tool to xian char bor, and it turned out that it was so easy that too many guys learnt it. I speculated that cuz I thought guitar is an easy tool to xian char bor also.
But anyway, I was seated with my platoon people for front parts of the performance cuz I didn't know the rock songs. I only went to the front to ki siao when I heard Black Eye Peas' 'Let's Get Started' and decided that I've had enough with sitting with all those guai-guai A level students.
After the Recruits' Evening everyone was in a good mood, even our old-old officers were in relatively good mood and were joking around with us.

I went out with my bunkmates after booking out on Friday to watch '300'. IT WAS FANTASTIC. I think Scorpion company should change name to Spartan company, more sat.
A beautiful conclusion to the 2 lousy movies I watched previously, '300' is based on the battle of Thermopylae: King Leonidas of Sparta leads 300 Spartans to hold the pass of Thermopylae against the hundreds of thousands of Persian mercenaries and soldiers led by the evil God-King, Xerxes.
The filmography and music was perfect, I was only discontented with 2 points:
- The gore. I hate gore, but gore is so essential for this movie. I'm not a director but i wonder if '300' would still be as good without the gore.
- The sex scene. Goodness, the only reason I can find to explain the presence of that scene is that its from Hollywood, nothing else. People obviously watch the show to see the Spartans in action at the battlefield, not on the bed.
Otherwise, a 8.5/10 for '300'. Go catch it!

So many stuff to blog sia. Just went out with the usual 2/4 gang to NTU's and NUS's open houses. I have a clearer view but still, the choice is damn hard to make. NTU's Communication studies is no easy course to get in, plus even if i do, I'm not sure I am of calibre to take it on. If I were take some other course I'll be so bored la.
*sigh*
Oh well. Booking in later evening; LAST BOOK IN!!! Passing out on Tuesday already. Time flies.
And with it, emotions and memories.
